Illegal mining | Families of zama zamas pleading for help

STILFONTEIN – Miners underground in Stilfontein are being subjected to a slow death.
That’s SAFTU general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi’s view on the impasse between police and the illegal miners.
Vavi visited the disused Stilfontein mine along with other unions and expressed frustration over what he says is government’s slow pace in bringing the miners back to surface.
Emotions are running high as frustrated families have been left fearing for the well-being of their loved ones.
